How to Remove Windows Genuine Advantage Notification Easily

This WGA Verification notice comes up when you download updates from Microsoft’s website. For those of us who have encountered it at one time or another, it can be really pesky. It keeps popping up every time you log in to your computer, and several times after that. Before I learned that there is a way to remove this, I found it extremely annoying to put up with. Then, I searched out different ways to remove it. I found that there’s even a “patch” for it, so I installed said patch as instructed in the setup, but that did not help either, because when i restarted the computer, the WGA window popped right up.

So, I searched some more. And then here’s what I did, with a twist of my own. You are welcome to try it out too. Do let me know if it works for you as it did for me. 🙂

1. Click START>Run>system32

2. Go to Tools>Folder Options>View Files and Folders. Click on “Show hidden files and folders”

3. Press F3 (for search) or alternatively, Ctrl F. Find all files containing “wga”. There should be about 3 to 5 files that turn up with various extensions.

4. Select all and delete.

5. Empty Recycle Bin.

6. Restart system, and you’re good to go.

I hope you find the tips above helpful.

Have a nice day 🙂

Hello world!

Hello World,

This is my first post on WP.  I am happy to embark on this new attempt at blogging about the things I like.  I hope I turn out to be good at it with time.

For starters, I have uploaded a dancing penguin gif image.  I like that happy penguin image.  It makes me feel cheerful.

Wishing myself luck!
